In Memoriam

Bill Drum, co-founder of the Piedmont Harvest Festival, passed away earlier this year, after a short and sudden illness.

Our joyous efforts this year, and for the years to come, will be dedicated to Bill’s memory and to his spirit of involvement and action, of inclusiveness and learning, and of cheerfulness and love.

A garden bench is being installed this year in Piedmont Park, overlooking the Community Center and the site of the Harvest Festival, to help us remember Bill always.

Donations received beyond those needed to fund this memorial are being directed to the
Piedmont Beautification Foundation, in support of some of Bill’s ongoing interests,
including schoolyard and senior gardening.

You may join us at any time by directing resources to the foundation in Bill’s name.

  1. Bill was the best! He was inclusive, cheerful, knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. The Harvest Festival has encouraged residents to participate in growing and sharing their bounty. Bill always shared a supportive comment, his time and energy to promote a strong community.

  2. I have had the honor of working with always-smiling, never-daunted Bill at the founding of the Harvest festival and for several years after. His grace an generosity have been an inspiration to me in my life. He has brightened the lives of everyone he met, and will be sorely missed.
